CIE offers training courses providing a supportive small-group environment where participants learn the fundamentals of business, test the feasibility of their business goals, and discover a business model that can generate sustainable revenue and profits. Unless otherwise indicated, all trainings are offered in both Spanish and English.
Start Simple Course
Have an idea for a new business? Our Start Simple Course will help you quickly “kick the tires” on your business idea. In just four two-hour group sessions, you will learn how to apply business fundamentals to assess the feasibility of your business goals. The course includes access to one of our Business Advisors for free one-on-one homework assistance and a final assessment of your completed Start Simple Plan.
Start Lean Course

Once you have completed our Start Simple Course, you will have a sketch of a realistic and achievable business idea based on a lot of “what ifs.” The six-session the Start Lean Course introduces a powerful new way to think about the next steps to building your startup. Using a business model canvas and lean startup strategies, we’ll discuss what you need to bring a Minimum Viable Product (or Service) to the market, test out your assumptions, and validate a business model that will generate consistent, repeatable and predictable revenue, all with one-on-one support from one of our Business Advisors.
Start Your Childcare Business
Offered in Spanish only
Start your own home-based childcare business in this three-session business training will teach you essential business skills and knowledge such as the start-up process, licensing requirements, marketing, record keeping, and more. Also, receive one-on-one technical assistance, a $200 stipend just from completing the training!
Comadres
Offered in Spanish only
Comadres is an entrepreneur training program for emerging women entrepreneurs. To promote diversity, equity and inclusion, priority will be given to emerging entrepreneurs with limited resources from marginalized communities — individuals who often have challenges finding support for self-employment and business ownership opportunities.
