Client Story: Larissa’s Apron

My name is Larissa Seeber, and I am the founder of Larissa’s Apron. Let me tell you about my journey of getting to where I am today. For most of my life, I have wanted to open my own business, specifically a cafe or a restaurant.

Just two years ago, I found myself working at another unfulfilling, unrewarding, and unexciting job. I was unhappy. I needed to make a change. My passion is cooking, and I knew it was time to start the business I always wanted. So I quit my job.

I started asking around my community for information on starting a small business, I received a lot of advice but no concrete information on how to go about doing things the right way. I started a conversation with my neighbor who works for the city of Pullman, asking her if she knew of anyone who could help me.

In September 2021, she gave me information about CIE with Juan Garcia, and Juan was in contact with me by the middle of September. I signed up for the Start Simple course a few weeks later.

On November 18, 2021, I was able to open Larissa’s Apron, my own business, serving fresh homemade South Indian cuisine. Juan has been instrumental in helping Larissa’s Apron get off the ground. With proper guidance from an experienced mentor, I was confident I was going about this new endeavor the right way.

In the past year, my brand has continued to grow and evolve. I started with online ordering take-out followed by pop-up events, catering, and, more recently, cooking classes.

Who knows where this entrepreneurial adventure will take me, but I know one thing for certain, I have found a source of employment that is fulfilling, rewarding, and exciting. It makes me happy to share my passion and culture with others.

Thank you, CIE, for providing me with a recipe for success so I can share my recipes with others!

Larissa’s Apron is located in Pullman, WA, Whitman County.
