The next step to building your business

Most business programs help people prepare a written business plan, but when you're just starting out, you’re not ready to do that. First, you need to search for your business model. For this, you need to know about using the business model canvas and lean launch strategies. The Start Lean Course will show you a powerful new way to think about building your startup.

  • Session 1 – About startups, Startup Search, the Lean Process Strategies, Hypothesis vs. Fact, Customer Development, Hypothesis Testing, MVP, Pivots, Customer Discovery.

  • Session 2 – Product-Market Fit: The Value Proposition, MVP, Customer Archetypes, Customer Segments, Pains and Gains.

  • Session 3 – Customer Acquisition, Distribution and Sales: Customer Relations, Get-Keep-Grow, Demand Creation, Sales Funnels, Customer Channels, Revenue Model, Pricing Tactics.

  • Session 4 – The Left Side of the Canvas: Purpose, Types and Risks of Partnerships, Resources, Activities, Costs. 

  • Session 5 - Resources, Costs and Business Plan.

  • Session 6 – Wrapping It All Up: BMC, Plan, Pitch, Key-Take-Aways, What’s Next.


Start Lean Course Details

All classes are conducted virtually via video call on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

*To be eligible for this course, you must have completed the Start Simple Course or be generating profit and you must live in a rural community served by our Business Advisors (Clallam, Jefferson, Skagit, Island, North Snohomish, Whatcom, Whitman, Garfield or Columbia counties).
